Check-up «Celiac Profile»
Analysis Description
Celiac disease is characterized by an immune response to gluten, which damages the lining of the small intestine and impairs the absorption of nutrients. Clinical manifestations may include gastrointestinal symptoms, anemia, weight loss, osteopenia, and asymptomatic forms. Serological markers are used to diagnose the disease − autoantibodies specific to celiac disease. The check-up includes four tests that allow you to detect the disease with high sensitivity and specificity, even in the case of a latent course or selective deficiency of immunoglobulin A.

The lab diagnostics detect
Screening for celiac disease in patients with symptoms of impaired digestion
Diagnosis of celiac disease in atypical or asymptomatic cases
Examination in the presence of iron deficiency anemia of unknown origin
Disease monitoring in patients on a gluten-free diet
Diagnosis in the presence of a family or personal history of autoimmune diseases
Indications
Chronic diarrhea, steatorrhea, bloating
Iron deficiency anemia of unknown genesis
Weight loss, osteopenia, growth failure in children
Concomitant autoimmune diseases (type 1 diabetes mellitus, autoimmune thyroiditis)
Genetic predisposition (celiac disease in first-degree relatives)
Control of compliance with a gluten-free diet
Atypical manifestations: rash, fatigue, migraines, menstrual irregularities
Analysis Composition and Interpretation
Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody, IgA
The main serological marker for the primary diagnosis of celiac disease. Tissue transglutaminase is an enzyme involved in the process of restoring the intestinal mucosa. Patients with celiac disease develop autoantibodies to this enzyme.

Normal range: <10 U/ml

Reasons for increased values: active form of celiac disease, autoimmune inflammation of the small intestine
Reasons for decreased values: values are within normal limits. In IgA deficiency, the result may be false negative, so additional IgG analysis is required

Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody, IgG
An alternative marker that is used in selective IgA deficiency or in pediatric practice. It has less specificity than tTG IgA, but may be useful in certain clinical indications.

Normal range: <10 U/ml

Reasons for increased values: celiac disease in IgA deficiency, inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract
Reasons for decreased values: no immune response to gluten

Deamidated Gliadin Peptide Antibody, IgG
Determines the presence of antibodies to deamidated gliadin peptides modified by tissue transglutaminase. DGP IgG is a sensitive marker of celiac disease, especially in young children and patients with IgA deficiency.

Normal range: <10 U/ml

Reasons for increased values: active celiac disease, autoimmune response to gluten
Reasons for decreased values: negative result, lack of sensitivity to gliadin

Deamidated Gliadin Peptide Antibody, IgA
An additional marker that can be used in the diagnosis of celiac disease in the absence of a marked increase in tTG IgA or in doubtful results.

Normal range: <10 U/ml

Reasons for increased values: celiac disease, inflammatory lesion of the small intestinal mucosa
Reasons for decreased values: normal result, no immune response to gluten
