When is an IV drip necessary?
IV drips for food poisoning are administered to patients in the following cases:
- Severe dehydration, manifested by dry skin, low blood pressure, and pronounced tachycardia.
- Frequent vomiting that prevents replenishment of fluid loss orally.
- Impaired consciousness, weakness, apathy, severe dizziness.
Intoxication with toxic substances such as poisonous mushrooms, harmful chemicals, or excessive amounts of poor-quality alcohol.
